In mid-October of last year, Xena was brought in to Pet Kare Clinic after being found on the side of the road. She had been hit by a car and had many injuries including, broken ribs, lung contusions and a broken leg that needed to be amputated.
Those caring for her quickly fell in love and wanted to save her. So, we reached out to our community for donations to pay for her medical care. RCHS and The Animal Assistant League put her story on their Facebook pages. The Animal Assistant League contributed $1,000 towards her $2,050 vet bill. Pet Kare Clinic also covered a percentage of the cost of her medical care. The remainder of the cost was provided by donations from our caring community.
Thank you for your support and for giving Xena a second chance!
Xena was appropriately deemed a warrior princess for surviving her ordeal. She is now in her forever home and is doing very well.
Welcome to Routt County Humane Society!
Steamboat Springs Colorado is our home and we aim to assist animals in need in Routt County. We count on the generosity of our local community so that we can provide veterinary care for dogs, cats, and the occasional bunnies and ferrets at the Routt County Humane Society facility. We also use your donations to assist pets in need from low income families and for trap/neuter/release in feral cat colonies. We believe that spaying and neutering helps reduce future, unwanted pet population in our community and makes for healthier, longer-lived pets. Join us!
The Routt County Humane Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, providing humane education, promoting spaying and neutering as a means of decreasing the number of unwanted pets, and encouraging respect for the dignity and worth of all animals.
